Mobilia, Point-Claire

Filed under: Retail — Editor @ 1:01 pm

I made a purchase on September 12, 2010 of a sofa & coffee table at the Mobilia store in Point-Claire, Quebec.

I was told that I will receive the items within 1 week.
The sofa arrived on time with 1 hole and 3 scratches (discovered after the delivery guys already left).
The coffee table arrived only one month later (unlike what I was promised, 1 week).
The delivery people said they were in a hurry and rushed me to sign the waver. On first glimpse the table seemed alright. 5 minutes after they left I realized a chip was broken.
When I called the delivery people to complaint, they told me that since I signed the waver it’s “my problem”.
When I called Mobilia offices to complaint they said they will send someone to repair it.

After being mistreated 3 times in the same purchase (1. receiving a damaged sofa that costs $2,800, 2. waiting a month to the table that was supposed to arrive within 1 week, 3. receiving a damaged table that costs $560), my patience has ended.
I asked to have the table replaced and to speak with a manager.
The receptionist said that the manager can’t talk to me, and that since I signed the waver, I am stuck with it…

Well, I really hoped to be addressed by more professionalism than that from a company that wishes to distinct themselves from the competition (and allows themselves to charge much higher prices accordingly).

I will appreciate any help/guidance in the matter.

Geeks on the Way

I live in Toronto and contacted the Toronto office of Geeks on the Way and scheduled onsite assistance with an ongoing sound issue on the internet.

I made it clear to the booker and also to the technician (by way of note) that if the issue couldn’t be resolved, we need the computer backed up on an external hard drive (left for him to set up) so I could restore the computer to the factory settings.

When it was clear he couldn’t resolved the sound issue, my husband prompted him to back up the computer. He left saying “It’s almost done and will be backed up in a few minutes.” The problem is he didn’t back up all of the computer including the documents and settings files and didn’t see fit to let us know.

He did, however take it upon himself to delete our antivirus software and load up some new software (for $50) without checking in. When my husband called him on that, he uninstalled it.

This is where it gets really fun. I restored the computer with the help of Dell Technical Support to discover we have sound on the Internet, and that I’ve lost all my emails (but he did back up my contacts). I discover next that we have no antivirus protection on the computer.

After lengthy discussions with the Toronto manager, Lisa, it’s clear that this is all really my fault. My fault for not being there. My fault for leaving a note. My fault for wanting him to wrap it up in an hour. The antivirus removal — it’s sort of their fault. They’ve offered to help me download free software off the computer though — how sweet.

When I suggested I would tell people that they give terrrible service, Lisa said she would not replace the antivirus they deleted.

Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever had.

Thanks for reading this.

Do not buy from Luxury Autos of New England

Filed under: Automotive — Editor @ 5:44 pm

Do not buy a car from Luxury Autos of New England. They do not stand behind their cars. They sold this car to me as a daily driver, and it is literally not running at all. The car stalls, has a horrible miss fire, and has a ton of other problems the seller failed to disclose. When I contacted the seller initially, she failed to respond. Now that I am disputing the car through my bank, she responds and accuses me of playing games. VERY unprofessional. She sent the car to me with no gasoline in it, so I ran out of gas and had to walk 5 miles to the nearest gas station to put gas in it. After that, I couldn’t even keep the car running properly. The car is currently with my mechanic and I’ve already spent more than I paid for it in efforts to get it safe and running. The seller KNEW all of these issues and failed to disclose them. The car was not safe, and the seller knew that.

Aside from mechanical the front seats were in extremely poor condition. The drivers seat is all ripped up and the passenger seat is just the same. The seller was ever so careful to circumvent taking a picture of the seat issues, and did not disclose them in the ad.

Buyer beware is all I can say if you are considering a car from Luxury Autos of New England.

Also, they claimed the car was inspected by a Massachusetts qualified inspection station. Well, the car must have been lick and sticked as there is NO WAY the car could have passed any legitimate inspection with all the safety problems it has.

Thanks for reading and I hope this saves someone else from getting taken by these thieves.

Yookidoo Stack ‘N’ Stream Tub Fountain: International Playthings

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Editor @ 2:15 pm

In a world we are meant to be trying to preserve for our children here is a toy that will cost you $30, and only work for 4- 5 months. When I called International Playthings (who make the Yookidoo Stack ‘N’ Stream Tub Fountain to complain that thefountain in this fountain toy was no longer operating, they asked me how long I had it (4-5 months) and told me “well the motor is worn out! “It’s not a REAL motor!” Funny, it didn’t say that on the box.

Happy to replace the product if I paid to ship it to them (@ a cost of $75), I suggested that made no sense, I may as well buy 2 more for that price. The employee who covers consumer issues for International Playthings stated that the policy was “more than fair” and “what did I expect, this was a TOY!”

Please explain that to my toddler who wants it to work, and whose generation will have to find some way to landfill this toy (and all others in the Yookidoo Stack ‘N’ Stream Tub Fountain range) as it’s not expected to last for even half a year, and cannot be recycled.

What a waste. Shame on you International Playthings. Our children are important, never mind their parents’ time, & money.

Dynamite Stamped Concrete

Filed under: Service Based — Editor @ 2:13 pm

Update: Wed. April 20th, 2011
Mistakes can happen in any business. What is important is to fix them and make your clients happy. This company has taken the necessary steps to rectifying this complaint. Great job Dynamite we’re always happy to show a resolution when someone takes the steps to fix mistakes and make clients happy. The following information was received from the original complaining party to Penciltrick.

I am pleased to announce Sid has been in contact with me and the issues I have had with the cement are being fixed. Sid is sincere and is fixing the problems. I would used Dynamite Stamped again.

Thanks for your help.

The original complaint continues below for reference purposes:

We recently installed a pool and hired a stamped concrete contractor to complete the concrete around the pool and to finish a patio for us, we had saved for years to finally have our dream backyard and this was the final step!. We researched and looked around and found Dynamite Stamped Concrete, we checked references, looked at their work and then we met the owner Sid, he was very helpful and promised us we would not be disappointed.

Once the job was ready to commence things started to go south fast (after they had the deposit), first he was delayed by a few days because he claimed he was sick, he would never answer phone calls and only the random text. Then once they finally formed it took another week to show up and finally pour the concrete!

They were a bunch of pigs, there was so much dust my pool filter got clogged, they didn’t try and cover it up, there was concrete all over my fence. Another 4 days passed and nobody came to clean off the cement, it rained and now my pool is again full of this stamped powder they use, I go out and try and clean it best I can. Multiple calls and texts later someone finally shows up to clean and seal it 5 more days later Once the sealer has been applied it starts to bubble and leaves marks all over the place. Sid has never returned to fix this problem! Don’t ever deal with Dynamite Stamped Concrete of Brampton – Sid is a con artist!
