Global Closeouts-Hudson, FL
I bought a TV. I paid for a warranty. It has been four months and I still do not have a warranty. They say it’s in the mail. The company doing the warranty, Bankers Trust Group of Florida says they have not been paid. Global Closeouts also seems to be doing business has Close Out City, Enable Holding and/or Ubid. In the store Bob and Jason say they can do nothing. A long distance call on my dime to Jim Potts has had no effect. These people do not seem to care about the customer once the customer is out the door. I fear they will move/close before I get my warranty.

You can contact Global Closeouts at 1-888-819-1350. They moved to a temporary location in a different area so their phone number had to be changed. You can always reach them on their toll free number

I bought 2 lap top computers med December and paid for extended warranty on both. I had not received the contract as the brochure had said I would. So I called the warranty co. Bankers Warranty Group. They tell me that Global Closeouts did not send them the money of information for my warranty.Mailbox at the lcocal number I have is full not taking messages, the 2 long distant phone numbers I have are disconnected. So if any one has other information or pursuing any legal recourse, let me know. What a scam, I am so frustrated

Just wanted to let other people having trouble with getting the extended warranty they paid for with a product they purchased at Global Closeouts. I called 1-888-819-1350 and spoke with Jason there. They are currently working out of a stoe in Bradenton Florida. He told me they have been having trouble with the Bankers Warranty Group since Global Closeout co. also has another partner co. But supposedly it has been getting straightened out. So it is suppose to be that if you call the phone number for Bankers Warranty which is 1-800-206-7848, they should find you as being covered and be sending you a contract number etc. So you may want to check again since this all happened in the last day or 2. If you find you are still having trouble, someone at the above number I put in this blog, may be able to help you. I did find them quite helpful today.

Ditto to everyone’s stories above. I am reporting it to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Dept., Florida Office of the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau of West Florida. If everyone would do the same, we might get somewhere.

The letter from Holly, who is probably a person that is part of this scam is not telling the truth… i bought my 5 year warranty in Dec….. I just called them, they have no record of me……[email protected]
March 6th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
I have purchased many items from Global Closeouts and have never had a problem. The extended warranty does not go into effect until 90 days after the purchase date. Global themselves handle all warranty issues for the first 90 days then Bankers takes over the extended warranty (if purchased) after that. Of all of the electronic items I have purchased I have only had issues with one – and it was replaced without issue from the warranty company.

I bought a Sharp TV from these guys in Port Richey Fl. I had a problem with the TV and called the 1-888-819-1350 number listed above. They set me up with a service call from Sharp and the TV is working great. If you have any problems I highly recommend calling that number they were very nice and helpful.
March 10th, 2010 at 9:55 am
PLEASE LISTEN PEOPLE… THE ITEMS YOU PURCHASED ARE COVERED FOR 1 YEAR..UNDER THE MANUFACTURED WARRANTY…. IF YOU BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, YOU ARE SCREWED.. THEY NEVER PAY THE WARRANTY COMPANY… IF YOUR ITEM BREAKS AFTER THE MAN.WARRANTY IS UP, IT IS YOUR OWN PROBLEM..
THE ONLY WAY I CAUGHT THESE SCAM ARTISTS, IS I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY NEW TV, AND INSTEAD OF CALLING SHARP, I CALLED THE S.P. SERVICE PAK. THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THE EXTRA $199.00 I PAID FOR THE WARRANTY.. GLOBAL CLOSEOUTS KEEPS YOUR MONEY FOR THE
WARRANTIES..THE WARRANTY COMPANY WILL HAVE NO RECORDS OF THE WARRANTY YOU PURCHASED BECAUSE GLOBAL CLOSEOUTS NEVER SUBMITTED YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO THEM.. STOP WAITING PEOPLE FOR YOUR WARRANTY… IT IS A SCAM…….YOU HAVE NO EXTENDED WARRANTY… TAKE ACTION…

I too bought a 42 inch samsung plasma tv from these scumbags on US 19 in Hudson Fl, they told me it was old stock from the Cricut City buy out when they went bankrupt, that was late december 2009, now in mid March 2010 the set is dead..I had contacted samsung to look at it, when they took the back cover off it was RUSTY inside!!!
no free repair, no warenty, just a $800 merry christmas screw job!
TURNS OUT THEY BUY TRAILER LOADS OF FACTORY DEFECTS AND STORE RETUNDS REPACKAGE THEM AND SELL AS NEW..THEY ARE ON E-BAY ALSO
March 22nd, 2010 at 3:04 pm
I also love the fact that the put up a huge sign on US 19 saying “CLOSED FOR REMODEL AND RESTOCKING SEE YA SOON!”, THEY NEVER REOPENED IN THAT LOCATION…
Reminds me of the old Crazy Eddie scumbag in the NY/NJ area in the early 80’s..might be his scumbag offspring keeping the traditions alive..
March 24th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
Here we go again, The Crooks are moving I understand they are closing up shop as of today and I was told they are moving to Port Charlot but that could be a lie also they owe me $1200 bucks and I will find them you can count on that. The heat must be on them that’s why they are moving so soon.
March 25th, 2010 at 4:31 pm
Samsung Screwjob, where on ebay are they? I tried to find them but can’t.
March 25th, 2010 at 5:08 pm
Yea, you finally got off your ass Grotto and did something instead of keeping the lady’s money. Your whole outfit is the biggest joke in Florida you better start looking for a new job before its to late more than one will be going to jail for what you freaks have been doing to honest people. Word is out.
Sandra, Enable Holdings has a contract with Bankers Warranty Group and they also supply Global Closeouts with merchandise. Enable Holdings is an outstanding company with great pride and customer focus. How much longer they are associated with Global Closeouts remains to be seen. This is just speculation on my part. Freedom of Speach
March 25th, 2010 at 5:19 pm
I have a question for Raul and Harrison. Why are you on a complaint board if your so Happy? Who do you really work for?
March 29th, 2010 at 9:31 am
A couple of comments…Enable Holdings is not an upstanding company and are on the verge of bankruptcy. The folks associated with Global Closeouts handled a Red Tag Live (a division of Enable Holdings)sale in Clearwater and in Ft. Lauderdale last year. Some vendors for these sales have never been paid. Similarly, as you can see from the above comments, some vendors have not been paid by Global Closeouts. The principals for Global Closeouts include Julian (Jim) Potts and his son Jason Potts. Do a search of the Sarasota County Clerk’s office court and official records – I am sure you will find it interesting. While you’re at it, check out Enable Holdings on the internet…you’ll see that not only are there problems paying vendors with Red Tag Live, there’s problems with Ubid.com (another Enable Holdings division) as well…
Good luck on getting paid!

While the old De Sears store in Sarasota was being used by Global Closeouts I bought an Acer Aspire computer and the Bankers 2-year warranty. When the computer malfunctioned repeatedly I called Bankers and was told my warranty didn’t take effect until one year after purchase. Acer recognized the unit but said it was out of warranty. When I called Bob at Global Closeouts with the problem he seemed like a descent guy and promised me a full refund. Then the group disappeared. The phones go unanswered. My anger is building and my corporate experience tells me to chase these guys down. This just isn’t fair, and I bet there are many more unhappy customers out there.

I have been having a problem with my warrenty as well. I was stupid enought to buy two appliences from them. I am currently having a problem and the refrigerator. they reported my refrigerator as new with a manufacturer warrenty for the first year. This is not true it is labled refirbished with a 90 day warrenty through gcr warrenty group. the 3 year warrenty I purchased is through Banker warrenty group. My warrenty is active but not in effect till nov 2010. Check with them on to see if your warrenty is active, their # is 1-800-206-7848. Global is currently in Port Charlotte phone # 1-941-391-6655 the number sounds like it is attached to a fax hang up and call again and you will either get a person or voicemail. Keep bugging them, wee need to stick together. If your not satisfied call the better Business bureau to file a report. If we can’t get our items repaired maybe be can put them out of business
April 10th, 2010 at 9:39 am
Why… OH Why does everyone think cheaper is better.
It’s because of the reasons stated in the above comments that I only shop retail….
From reputable dealers and retailers.
Who in their right mind would purchase a high end TV
or computer from a ” close out” sale.
Like the old saying says:
If it sounds too good to be true……
It probably is !
Come on guys…. a $600.00 New HD LCD TV for $300.00
You lost some money….
let that be a HARD lesson learned.
I do however agree that places like this should be stopped.

Hey fellows welcome to the party. How can these people live with there selfs. Russ, I also thought BOB was a nice guy he bull shited me into buying a TV set that was trashed and told me several lies. Call this number 1-866-946-8243 This is Enable Holdings you will get a Rep.on the phone ask to speak to her supervisor if you don’t get her the first time try again and again complain your ass off about Global Closeouts Here’s why, I know for a fact that Global buys alot from this company and they are really tired of hearing about Global’s dishonesty. I have been putting the pressure on them and its starting to payoff.
April 10th, 2010 at 12:44 pm
Scam Observer, Your wrong about Enable Holdings. I received a refund from them that was owed to me from Global Closeouts. I sent the product to Enable they stated that they will get there money back from Global. They were very honest with me. I can’t say to much do to the fact that Global scans this board.
April 28th, 2010 at 12:51 pm

April 30th, 2010 at 9:17 pm
Carrie, They got you good. I feel for you, when did you make your purchase? I just received a letter from the BBB yesterday stating that they are out of business. They also said that if anyone knows anything thing about them to notify the BBB. I’m sure they are operating under a new name I will try to find out and will post it here if I do. Call the police, contact the BBB and the dept of consumer affairs, also contact Enable Holdings @ 1 866 946 8243
Ask to speak to a supervisor (Amanda is one) tell her your problem. Global buys truck loads of stuff from this company keep hammering them it can only hurt them more. Enable reimbursed me for my problems that I had with Global may be they will help you also.

November 10th, 2010 at 12:58 pm
Here is an address that might help. It appears to be a home address I recently researched and found for this company.
(Address removed by editor. I’m sorry but we cannot condone handing out home addresses for legal reasons. Even if the individuals in question probably deserver a good beating. Innocent third parties and children could be hurt or worse.)

I baught a 30″ flat sceen tv in sarasota, fl on 12/18/09, for $247.77, plus extended warranty for $54.99, polaroid tv flm2632. Within a few months dark shadows and vertical bands started to show om my screen. I called
global closeouts, the number was disconnected, I never received the papers for the extended warranty, I wen tback to the store, the place was no longer open for business, I phoned Polaroid co and was told that as Closeouts were not a registered dealer of their brand there was nothing they could do.I am out $300.00 and my poor step mom is with this tv with an horrible picture, it was her 2009 Xmas present! none of the phone numbers still listed for them are active. What is the possibility of getting refund or new product or even sue these people as they are for sure a big scam and a bunch of thieves, showing big store front and advertising great deals… for what?
December 3rd, 2010 at 10:23 pm
My husband purchase a “new” TV at their store in Hudson for use in our camper. When we had the opportunity to use it…it did not work…called Magnavox and the serial number was not valid…it was not a new TV and the box nor the TV was marked as refurbished…when I returned it and made a fuss, Jason didn’t identify himself as an owner, but referred me to an older man…I was told they couldn’t reach the “owner” by phone to call back tomorrow…they actually, in the end, because I was making a “scene” in their store, agreed to refund our money…but then said they had to charge me a 15% restocking fee…of course, I raised more heck and they refunded the full amount. Everyone who has had a problem should file some kind of lawsuit to prevent them from opening any business…my research found what appeared to be a mother/daughter/grandson ownerhip…the whole deal, I allege, is a scam set up…I did not report to BBB because they refunded, but hindsight tells me I should have…
December 8th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
I also got a TV from this “GLobal Closeouts. After 6 months I noticed the TV did not look any good anymore. When I called LG they said GLobal CLoseouts were not athurized to sell LG TV’s new or rebuilt.
